Robin Van Persie Claims Sir Alex Ferguson Lied To Him To Secure Transfer From Arsenal

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson lied to him in order to sign him from Arsenal in 2012, according to the Guardian.

The Dutchman claims that before he moved to Manchester, Ferguson told him that he would be staying at Old Trafford for the next three years.

At the end of the 2012/13 season he retired however, leaving the club less than a year after the former Gunners captain had arrived.

“My decision to come to Manchester was partly because of the presence of Ferguson, or excuse me, Sir Alex. And he told me he’d stay for another three years,” said van Persie.

The once prolific forward enjoyed a fantastic first season under Ferguson, practically dragging his new side to their 13th, and his first, Premier League title.

Since the Scottish manager left however van Persie has been on a downward spiral.

The 31-year-old no longer looks like the player he once was, and could soon find himself replaced by Radamel Falcao if he doesn’t pick up his form.
