Reports reaching us confirm that there’s currently another fire outbreak in the University of Lagos as at the time of making this report.
According to eye witnesses, the fire started at about 12:20am on Wednesday, October 15, and affected the “Shawarma” spot of the Yemyem shopping complex and was first controlled by residents of theSodeinde male hall. The students were later assisted by men of the Yabatech fire service.
Another eyewitness, Olaide (popularly referred to as Lady Bridge ), revealed that the constant power failure experienced in the school might have caused it, she said:
“I think its the constant power failure which brought about them trying to fix the light.
“In the quest of trying to repair it, some silly mistakes might have been made, something minor could have caused it” Olaide added.
On how the outbreak was controlled, Olaide said:
“Newhall boys really tackled the fire but men of the fire service came later”
This is the second fire outbreak this week since a room in female hostel, Madam Tinubu Hall (MTH), gutted fire during the early hours of Sunday, October 12.
